Market Assessment Study and Business Plan for a Specialized Hospital in Bahrain

This project aims to establish a high-end private hospital in Bahrain via utilizing a formerly constructed 32-floor building in the Sanabis area of the Kingdom. While the project was initially developed with the purpose of establishing a maternity and children hospital, its architectural features and location provide a suitable foundation for other types of healthcare projects as well.

Gradbone Healthcare Development, a UK-based company, has collaborated with local partners in Bahrain to redesign, construct, equip and operate this private hospital. For this purpose, Enera has been contracted as the primary advisor in order to update the operational and financial plans and prepare outreach materials for prospective investors.

In this project, we collected secondary data on the healthcare sector in Bahrain by compiling statistics, reviewing the literature, and studying industry reports. Based on the data collected, we evaluated the current status and future direction of Bahrain’s healthcare sector in light of the recent health system transformation efforts.

Furthermore, we analyzed supply-demand gaps, determined potential specialties that can be served by the prospective hospital, identified international markets for medical tourism, assessed target market sizes, examined competitors, determined critical success factors, prepared service volume and financial projections, updated pricing policy, made capacity planning and estimated returns on capital based on different scenarios.

Finally, we prepared an investor briefing brochure and an investor pitch deck, which will be used to promote the project and ensure that the attractiveness of the opportunity is clearly communicated to potential investors.
